The Softite Community Federal Credit Union has generously supported the Barnesville Hospital Foundation Breast Health Fund for the past six years by conducting their Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraising. During the month of October, all three offices of the Credit Union serve milk and freshly made cookies every day. Employees wear Breast Cancer Awareness shirts each Friday in support of this cause. The monthly event is enjoyed by both employees and credit union members.
The donations come from Credit Union Members, said Pam Fankhouser, CEO, Softite Community Federal Credit Union. Then SCFCU matches what was collected by members and donates the proceeds to the Barnesville Hospitals Breast Health Fund. We have proudly donated thousands of dollars over the years.
The 2016 check was presented to Karen Mihalic, RT RM, Imaging Operations Manager, Barnesville Hospital, who is credited with creating the Breast Health Fund through the Barnesville Hospital Foundation.
This generous donation from Softite Community Federal Credit Union will directly support our under-insured and un-insured patients throughout Belmont County that are diagnosed with breast cancer at Barnesville Hospital, said Mihalic. We appreciate Softites support in assisting us to meet the health care needs of our community and we are extremely grateful for their ongoing support.
The Breast Health Fund was established to assist under and uninsured women, who have utilized Barnesville Hospital for a mammography screening exam which led to the diagnosis of breast cancer. These funds can be used for the cost of a mammogram, cost of medications, assistance for transportation or the cost of surgery and follow up care.
