Officials from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) recently made a site visit to the Addiction Services of Eastern Ohio. This visit was conducted because in September, 2017, Barnesville Hospital was awarded a three year grant through the Rural Health Opioid Program, HRSA, in support of Addiction Services of Eastern Ohio (ASEO) an outpatient withdrawal management program. Services provided through ASEO include withdrawal management, behavioral counseling and medication assisted treatment.
Michael Blodgett, Public Health Analyst, Rural Health Opioid Program, HRSA, and Shane Ford, Rural Health Administrator, ODH visited to learn more about ASEO, the resources provided, the positive impact this program is having on the community and the challenges we continue to face.
“It was wonderful to have Michael and Shane visit so they could see our program firsthand,” said Joseph Jeffries, R.Ph, Pharmacy Director. “They were able to share information about other successful programs and they also shared information about possible funding which could help our region to garner more resources to fight addiction. They recognized how important it is to have a program to combat addiction located within our community.”
Over 100 area residents have benefitted from the withdrawal management services provided through ASEO. ASEO is located in the lower level of the Barnesville Medical Center. If you need a speaker regarding opioid addiction or need additional information regarding ASEO please call 740-425-5780.
