F.I.R.E., (Flame Inside Requires Effort), donated $500 to the Barnesville Hospital Breast Health Fund. This funds assists area women who are uninsured or under insured and have been diagnosed with breast cancer at Barnesville Hospital. Funds can be used for medical care, transportation or other expenses resulting from the cancer diagnosis.
F.I.R.E. is a local nonprofit organization designed to help people find their passion in life. Through this journey, F.I.R.E. member’s goal is to make a positive impact, create awareness, and raise funds for various charities and foundations.
“It is gratifying to be part of a community where area residents look for ways to give back,” said David Phillips, CEO, Barnesville Hospital. “Anthony Rocchio and Bernie Thompson are doing just that. They were instrumental in establishing F.I.R.E and are now making a positive impact on our community.”
Through the sale of t-shirts Rocchio and Thompson were able to raise funds to make life easier for women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. Rocchio stated he had several relatives in his life who had been impacted by breast cancer and he was eager to help others who were also confronted with breast cancer.
“We are extremely grateful for this gift”, said Karen Mihalic, RT R M ARRT, PACS Administrator, Barnesville Hospital. “When a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer it can be an overwhelming experience. Funds from the Breast Health Fund can make a woman’s journey just a little bit easier.”
