Hospital Receives Grant from South Central Power Company Foundation

The South Central Power Company Foundation awarded Barnesville Hospital a grant to purchase a plasma freezer for the hospital laboratory. A plasma freezer is a vital piece of equipment which ensures lifesaving plasma is readily available for medical emergencies.

“No one knows when an emergency can occur whether it is an automobile accident, gunshot wound or a work accident,” said Shawn Meier, Laboratory Manager. “The purchase of the plasma freezer ensures Barnesville Hospital will be prepared to provide transfusions for emergencies and traumas. We are extremely grateful to the South Central Power Company Foundation for their support.”

The Barnesville Hospital Auxiliary also contributed $1,000.00 towards the purchase of the plasma freezer. The Auxiliary is comprised of close to one hundred individuals who raise funds throughout the year in support of Barnesville Hospital.

“A huge thank you to the South Central Power Company Foundation and to the Barnesville Hospital Auxiliary for providing the funds to purchase the plasma freezer,” said Jan Chambers, Director of Development. “Their generous support provides our Hospital the tools to care for our community.”

The new plasma freezer was purchased and installed in 2018 and has ensured that lifesaving plasma is readily available in emergency situations.
