Barnesville Hospital and Home Health Agency has achieved a full three-year accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, as a result of their demonstrated compliance with the Joint Commission's nationally recognized health care standards. "Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic and organization-wide improvement in an organization's performance and the outcomes of care," says Kurt Patton, executive director, Hospital Accreditation Program, Joint Commission. "The community should be proud that Barnesville Hospital is focusing on the most challenging goal -- to continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels."

Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to improving the quality of the nation's health care through voluntary accreditation. The Joint Commission's on-site survey of Barnesville Hospital and Home Health Agency occurred in July and August.

Barnesville Hospital is focusing on the most challenging goal to continuously raise quality to a higher level. Rick Doan, C.E.O., Barnesville Hospital spoke of "his pride in a staff who are committed to providing quality patient care and continually strive to provide services of the highest quality." Jane Hall, R.N., Director of Quality Improvement called the accreditation, "proof of an organization-wide commitment to provide quality care on an ongoing basis."
