Barnesville Hospital Hosts Women's Health Day on September 30, 2009

On Wednesday, September 30, 2009, an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 women of all ages will participate in the Eighth Annual National Women's Health & Fitness Day. This event is always held the last Wednesday in September as part of National Women's Health & Fitness Week. Barnesville Hospital will be sponsoring a Women's Health Day on Wednesday, September 30th. Beginning at 8:00 a.m., participants will join thousands of other women across the country as they learn their way to better health.

Peggy Douglass, Director of Education & Outreach at Barnesville Hospital says, "We want to demonstrate the importance of women's health issues. A day full of activities is planned where women of all ages will have a chance to participate in a variety of health screenings and informational sessions."

Activities planned include:

8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Health Screenings:
  • Blood Pressure
  • Glucose
  • Cholesterol
  • Fitness Evaluation
  • Pulmonary Function Screening
  • DexaScan (Screening for Osteoporosis)
  • Screening for Peripheral Vascular Disease
11:30 a.m. "Top 5 Women's Health Issues", Amy Leech, D.O.

8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Viewing of Displays
1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Health Screenings:
  • Blood Pressure
  • Glucose
  • Cholesterol
  • Fitness Evaluation
  • Pulmonary Function Screening
  • DexaScan (Screening for Osteoporosis)
  • Screening for Peripheral Vascular Disease

According to Rick Doan, CEO, "The goal of this event is to encourage women to take control of their health by learning the facts they need to make smart health choices."
