The Licensed EMT-Paramedic provides technical basic care for patients within the Emergency Department, in support of medical care as directed by medical staff. They will follow the objectives and policies of the hospital. They are responsible for delegated care for all patients assigned to him/her by the Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse according to their scope of practice.
To assist in directing patient flow, transport patients, and set up and assist with procedures as directed. Will perform point of care testing, wound cultures, EKG’s and application of splints. Will insert and discontinue IV catheters in adults and pediatric populations. Clean and stock rooms. Will collect and convey information to RN and physician regarding the health status of patients throughout the visit. Will perform specialized work initiating emergency or appropriate care under the supervision of the ED RN. Perform other job related duties within the scope of practice approved by State of Ohio and Barnesville Hospital Emergency Department Medical Director.
- Graduate of approved accredited EMT-P program
- High school diploma or GED required
- Current EMT-P license in the State of Ohio
- Current ACLS certification
- Current CPR certification
- Current PALS certification or willing to complete within six months of hire
Minimum of one (1) year experience in healthcare, fire and/or Emergency Medical Services environment required
Full-time; 11 am – 11 pm shift, rotating weekends
