The Patient Access Manager collaborates with the Senior Director of Information Management to lead all processes related to Patient Access (Registration and Central Scheduling); Oversees Registration and Central Scheduling processes for Barnesville Hospital, including, but not limited to inpatient and outpatient services, pre-registration, scheduling, training/orientation, QA and denial management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Must possess leadership and management skills and be competent in giving instructions and follow-up performance reviews. Strong customer service skills. Both verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Have good decision-making abilities and analytical skills to facilitate problem solving. Must have knowledge of all functions of Registration and Central Scheduling areas. Ability to understand basic medical terminology and use of basic computer software packages. Demonstrated success in managing day-to-day operations in Patient Access preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business or health related field preferred. Two to five years experience in Patient Access or related healthcare environment required. At least one year management experience in Patient Access, financial, or related healthcare environment. Excellent communication and guest relations skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides leadership and supervision to Patient Access (Registration and Scheduling) staff members using general guidelines under the guidance of the Senior Director of Information Management. Provides staff training. Develops policies and procedures. Assess, develop, implement and redesign processes and workflows. Follows and enforces all departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Serves as a liaison between Patient Access departments, other hospital departments, patients and providers. Troubleshoots and resolves issues. Coordinates with the Business Office, Medical Records, and Case Management to support efficient function of the Revenue Cycle. Uses reasonable diligence to detect noncompliance with applicable policies and legal requirements within the department.
